The Garden State

April 18, 2007 xtacocorex Leave a comment

Horrible movie and even crappier state.  So far, I’ve seen no gardens.  Our hotel is surrounded on 3 sides by water, the roads we need to travel on are closed due to flooding.  I think without the crappy weather, it’d still be crappy.  Everything is run down.  There are, however, some cool places.  For instance, the expensive restaurants we’ve been able to get to.  I was told we’d eat well for dinner and so far it has been correct.

Other than that, the business trip is fun.  Tomorrow I get to present which I’m sort of not looking forward to, but it’s only 3 slides.

I did get the new power cord for my Mac, so I’m rocking out on that with 85W of allowable input power.  Everything I deal with at work is in watts, so I’m getting used to using it.  If you don’t know what watts are, it’s power so Joules per second or volts time amps.

CNN is running the stuff on the Virginia Tech shootings.  Everything is now in hindsight, yeah you can speculate all you want, but the event happened and it can’t be taken back.  It sucks that 32 people are dead, but discussing what could have been done is counter-productive, taking action now to prevent it from happening again is more productive.

Maybe I should get some room service ice cream, although Target isn’t too far away.

Just a short solution to a lot of problems…

I wish I would have blog-rolled the wordpress.com blog I found about two guys and their hardcore adventure with tea.  It was good reading.

This next week I will be out of town in New Jersey for a business trip.  Should be exciting.  Other than that, work is going well.  I’ve been busy for the last week and the week when I get back will also be busy.

One of my good friends’ best friends got wounded in Iraq.  It sucks, but he’s still around which is a good thing.

I have made some more progress on my rendering code, I simplified model::render() by using private functions that do the actual rendering of different options.  It’s cool stuff and hopefully I can actually read in a PMARC input file, translate the input data to the geometry in a class and do the potential flow solution using that format.  If I can pull it off, it’ll be sweet.

Deadliest Catch the other day reminded me of what my dad did in the Coast Guard.  Crazy stuff he did.

Anyway, if I get a chance, I’ll update this week sometime.

Looks like someone woke up on the wrong side of the rock…

So Erica and I are in our house, it’s awesome.

Haven’t worked too much on porting PMARC to C++, but I did get help with plotting the geometry in SDL. Here are some pictures:

I should go unpack boxes, but I choose not to right now.
