More Late Nights

November 25, 2008 xtacocorex Leave a comment

Once again I find myself at work, staying late and watching a thermal chamber. I would say that it’s boring, but we usually have a good time. It does suck that I’m not home hanging out with Erica and Lilly. Other than more deadlines, work isn’t too bad.

In cooler news, Sean got jets, so when he is done with training in Oklahoma, he’s off to fly the T-45C in Mississippi. Justin is off with the Air National Guard so I have no Halo playing buddy, but that’s all good because I haven’t wanted to play lately anyway.

The Rebel Photo Club had a meetup on Saturday where we did macro/small product shooting. It was a good time.

For Thanksgiving, we’re off to Nebraska for the rest of the week. Should be a good time. I won’t be anywhere near work which is exciting.

Weeks of Craziness

November 16, 2008 xtacocorex Leave a comment

These past couple of weeks have been quite crazy; I’ve had to spend lots of hours at work trying to meet deadlines, which all happen to end this Friday. I have decided to not shave and see how long I can go. So far I’m on the start of week three and that’s the longest to date. The guys at work have decided that I shouldn’t shave until the deadlines are met.

To make things more interesting, Lilly has decided she doesn’t want to sleep which is due to either her new tooth (the second!) and/or separation anxiety. Great times have been had at night with an inconsolable child. So far, she’s sleeping really well, but I feel as thought I will jinx it.

I did have time to work on my new pinhole lens today. I’ve decided to forgo the sheet metal and use the aluminum from a soda can; it is far thinner and easier to get a really small hole into. I’ve taken some test shots with it, but I was inside, in bad light, and had to bump the borrowed K10D’s ISO to 1600 (which is really noisy, but works for black and white).

An interesting thing I came across while reading Paul Butzi’s blog was SoFoBoMo. Seeing as I forgot about NaNoWriMo, I might as well try the photography one since that’s what I’ve been doing for a while and I still haven’t hashed out the full technical details for my novel.

One thing I am happy to learn is that TRL is going to be no more. What a worthless show and I’m sure the NYPD is happy to be able to have parts of the Times Square sidewalk back.

Pre Vote Day

November 3, 2008 xtacocorex Leave a comment

Long time, no blog. I’ve been taking a bunch of pictures with borrowed cameras.

The nice thing about tomorrow is the end of the political campaign ads. Great news for me because I can’t stand them.

I still haven’t made up my mind, fully, on who I’m voting for; I think I’m going to wing it when I get to the polling place. The only thing to make voting go well tomorrow is the forecasted nice weather we’re supposed to have out here in Iowa.

As I watch the SNL Presidential Bash on NBC, it’s great that someone can make light of the entire situation.
