Ektar 100 in 120…

February 18, 2009 xtacocorex Leave a comment

Kodak has decided to release their new C-41 film, Ektar 100, in 120 film size. Good news for us medium format shooters.

I think that I’ll probably shoot slides though, just because of their contrast. At least it gives me options as I can always get cheaper developing.

Sofobomo 2009 Website

Pier
Pier into the Atlantic – Virginia Beach, VA

The website for Sofobomo 2009 is up! Rock on. A big thanks in advance to Paul Butzi and his crew for organizing the event and rolling out a sweet website.  The online registration is a breeze and it’s cool to see where across the world participants are located.

I’ve come up with a list of things I need to complete my project:

  • 6-7 rolls of ISO 100 Black and White 120 film
  • 1, 2, and 3 stop ND Filters for Cokin A series
  • Waist Level viewfinder for the Bronica ETRS
  • Zenza Bronica Zenzanon 40mm f/4 lens for the Bronica ETRS

I will be taking donations or if you have stuff I can borrow, that would also be cool. The two latter items aren’t really needed, but would make life easier.

If you are crazy enough to want to do a 35 shot photo book in a month, you should definitely hit up the site and register.

A New “New Deal”

February 8, 2009 xtacocorex Leave a comment

It has been 76 years since FDR started his New Deal. Truthfully, I have no idea what is fully covered in the stimulus plan, but I drive around all over and things are in shambles. I’m not talking about people losing houses, that plain sucks, but our country’s infrastructure, roads, bridges, highways, are falling apart.

Let’s use some money (what little the country has) and fix the roads and bridges and build more clean energy power plants. I know of a lot of area in Nebraska that could be used for wind farms because it’s a boring place.

I don’t think throwing tons of money into the pockets of companies who don’t need it because of bad decisions is an answer to our problems.

I actually think this New “New Deal” (as I’m calling it) would work. With unemployment the way it is, people would welcome any money they could get and probably do any work that is necessary; unless Americans have become so pompous as to not accept menial tasks even if it means food on the table. If the latter is the case, then there isn’t hope at all.

I’m currently watching CNN and Don Lemon is on and accepting tweets about the stimulus plan. I threw up a tweet in his direction, hoping to get it on the air.
