Deep in the chaos

Unusual
Anemone and Fishing Reel- VA Beach, Virginia

Work has been extremely busy since I got back from Tucson as I’m trying to get stuff ready for the customer. Aside from the chaos, it’s going well and it should go back to a somewhat normal routine by next Wednesday until I head to Florida near the end of April. Aside from making a good name for my self, I got task promoted to be the Build Lead for our product; quite the responsibility for an entry level engineer.

Sofobomo is coming up in a little over a month and I’m excited for it. I still need to get my film that I’m going to shoot and go attempt my idea sometime soon here. I’m also excited that I got my friends to participate in it also, it’ll be a grand time comparing notes about shooting and book ideas with people in my area. I may actually take some time off of work to work on my book.

Looks like Fargo, ND is getting a lot of water and flooding like Cedar Rapids last spring. I hope them the best, flooding sucks.

Aircraft Boneyard

Sunrise over the Atlantic – Virginia Beach, VA

On Monday, I’m off to Tucson, Arizona for work and I’ll be there until Wednesday morning. I am excited for the trip, but it’s going to be a little crazy as I’ll be the only one out there from my group and I’m sure to get the brunt of a lot of complaining. Oh well, it happens.

The cool thing about Tucson is that it houses the aircraft boneyard for old military jets. I’ve always wanted to see it and now I have a chance. Now I just need to determine what camera to take. The Bronica is nice, but it’s heavy and since the trip is short, I don’t want to carry it around as I may not get a chance to take pictures at all. Film is nice because I can still shoot on the plane while landing since mine aren’t electrical. Erica’s D80 would be nice, but I’d probably remove her kit lens and roll with my 50mm f/2 prime.

I also get a chance to hang out with my uncle as he lives out there now, assuming that I can get a hold of him; I think he isn’t around the phone all the time.

This is where smart phones are nice, as I’d be able to browse the internet while at the airport without having to power on the MacBook. I’d be able to use twitter right from the phone. I want the power of a smart phone, and seeing as I’ll probably be traveling more, it seems like a smart idea.

Erica procured a Kodak EasyShare Printer Dock off of freecycle last night and all it’s missing is the power cord; I could care less about the USB cable to connect to the computer, I have tons of those. It’d be a fun little thing to try out. Assuming we can procure a power cable, I would be able to print mini-panoramas and carefully trim the excess whitespace around the image.
