Star Trails - Matsell Natural Bridge Area
Star Trails at the Matsell Natural Bridge Area

I’m happy with the image that is posted above, granted the scan sucks; but the image itself turned out really well. After much thought, I came up with the idea of changing my SoFoBoMo idea to doing all star trails, but since that is wholly dependent on the weather and the phase of the moon, I’ve decided against it. I did come up with another idea of a star trail panorama. The only way I can think of accomplishing that shot is with 4+ cameras of the same configuration (body and lens) and have them set to do stacking image trails (multiple shots stacked for one final image). When you stack the images from each of the 4+ cameras, run them through a stitching program to create the panorama. It seems like a good idea and I happen to know 3 people who have Canon Rebel’s that would probably be down for a crazy experiment; will have to bring it up to the crew at the next Rebel Photo Club meeting which is tomorrow night.

Since it was Lilly’s first Easter Egg Hunt yesterday, I decided that shooting my Pentax with a roll of the Kodak C-41 Black and White film I was given would be a good way to document the event. Looking through my arsenal of K-mount lenses, I realized that the only decent lens I could use for portraits was my 75-205 f/4 Vivitar; seeing as I didn’t want to carry 9 inches of lens, I opted for Erica’s 35-70 f/4. Everything was fine and dandy until the Auto Winder started having problems; I have new batteries in it, so it’s probably something electrical with communicating with the camera.

The Ovation TV Network is running a bunch of shows on photography, which I am finding interesting.

I’ll work on a post that talks about how I don’t like the small Digital SLR Viewfinders. After playing with the Pentax and my f/4 lenses, it’s still brighter than Erica’s D80 and her f/3.5-5.6 zoon.
