I’ve been emulated…

Remember back in the day when I worked on AutoKernel? It turns out that someone decided to fork my the code I helped write and release a usable program (yeah, that’s my name in the header!). I just got the source and with the latest release, there is very little that resembles my code, but that’s how open source works. I’m excited that someone took off with the idea and made something that is a niche program for a small group of people. I was surprised to see that half of the code is a bash script while the GTK+ interface is done in Python (an interface, wow! Something I didn’t want to support until I got the code working).

And how did I find out about this, the whole google yourself thing that is all over the news as of late. I’ve googled myself numerous times before and found out that the other me is a doctor somewhere; I just haven’t done it recently, but while watching CNN this afternoon, I decided I should.

Interesting things abound in the world…

There is a discussion on the Ubuntu Programming subforum about using malloc in a shared library and error checking with it.  I agree with the OP.  This is the second of three threads by the OP, the first one was closed by a Moderator which slightly pisses me off.

Evidently someone running for President (Mike Huckabee (R)) decided to use Chuck Norris in his campaign.

It’s really foggy outside right now.

Off to play Halo 3 before it goes back to Family Video tomorrow.

Upgrade Disasters…

November 6, 2007 xtacocorex Leave a comment

So the upgrade didn’t work at all, 5 packages won’t install and I have to boot to an older kernel version to get it to actually boot and not have a rectangle in place of a character for everything except for the terminal in Gnome.

In an attempt to fix the problem, I burned the iso of Fluxbuntu that I had on my Mac to install on the Dell, which would overwrite everything with the exception of the stuff in my separate /home and /opt partitions. Damn computer wouldn’t read the burned disk, but the Mac booted off of it just fine. Granted the Dell is 7 years old now.

Erica’s baby shower is Saturday so my plan is to sit in the basement and do nothing, hopefully playing Halo 3 using a copy borrowed from someone who isn’t going to play the game over the weekend.
